A Modern Pool Can Transform Your Entire Backyard
In Woodland Hills, where summers are long and temperatures soar, a beautiful pool isn’t just a luxury—it’s a lifestyle upgrade. Whether you already have an older pool that needs refreshing or you’re considering building a brand-new one, choosing between a pool remodel and new pool construction is one of the most important decisions for your outdoor space.
Regal Landscaping & Construction specializes in both options, helping homeowners create modern, functional, and visually stunning pools that elevate their entire backyard.
This guide breaks down the differences, costs, timelines, and benefits so you can make the best choice for your home.
Pool Remodel: When Updating Your Existing Pool Is the Best Choice
A pool remodel is ideal when your current pool has good structural bones but needs cosmetic or functional upgrades.
Common Reasons Homeowners Choose a Remodel
- The pool looks outdated
- Cracked or faded plaster
- Old tile or coping
- Inefficient equipment
- Desire for modern features
- Adding new lighting or water features
Popular Remodel Upgrades
Regal Landscaping offers a wide range of enhancements, including:
- New plaster or pebble finish
- Modern tile and coping
- LED lighting systems
- Baja shelves (sun shelves)
- Waterfalls and fountains
- Energyefficient pumps and filters
- New decking or hardscaping around the pool
These upgrades can make an older pool look brand new—often at a fraction of the cost of building a new one.
Benefits of a Pool Remodel
- Lower cost compared to new construction
- Faster timeline (often 2–4 weeks)
- Minimal disruption to your yard
- Modern features without rebuilding
- Improved safety and efficiency
A remodel is perfect if your pool’s shape and size still work for your lifestyle.
New Pool Construction: When Starting Fresh Is the Better Investment
If your yard doesn’t have a pool—or your existing pool is too old, too small, or structurally damaged—new construction may be the smarter choice.
Reasons Homeowners Choose New Construction
- Want a larger or deeper pool
- Desire a completely new layout
- The old pool has structural issues
- Want modern resort-style features
- Planning a full backyard transformation
Modern Pool Features You Can Add
Regal Landscaping builds custom pools with:
- Infinity edges
- Baja shelves
- Waterfalls & rivers
- Builtin seating & loungers
- LED lighting systems
- Integrated spas
- Custom shapes & designs
- Premium stone or tile finishes
A new pool allows complete creative freedom.
Benefits of New Pool Construction
- Fully customizable design
- Modern engineering & safety standards
- Longer lifespan
- Better integration with new backyard layouts
- Higher property value
New construction is ideal for homeowners planning a full outdoor makeover.
Cost Comparison: Remodel vs. New Construction
While prices vary based on materials and design, here’s a general comparison:
Pool Remodel
- Typically more affordable
- Cost depends on upgrades (plaster, tile, lighting, equipment)
- Great ROI for cosmetic improvements
New Pool Construction
- Higher upfront investment
- Includes excavation, plumbing, electrical, and full build
- Adds significant longterm value to the home
Regal Landscaping provides transparent quotes and helps you choose the best option for your budget and goals.
Timeline Comparison
Pool Remodel:
Usually 2–4 weeks, depending on the scope.
New Pool Construction:
Typically 6–10 weeks, including design, permitting, excavation, and build.
Regal manages the entire process—including permits—to keep your project smooth and stress-free.
